i remember an article a very long time ago on "how to ask questions" in the context of tech spaces i.e. "can i do Y" vs "how can i use X to do Y in Z" but i can't find anything of the sort now, does anyone know anything like that?
@arielmt oh for fuck's sake
@arielmt (i didn't remember who wrote it, and i'm not going to reference it any longer lol fuck this)
@arielmt also, shit, i didn't look closer, that is a hilarious SSL error
@mavica_again IKR. I love how the recommended action is also the ethically correct one.
@mavica_again There's this one in the Debian Wiki, also about as old, but for IRC specifically: https://wiki.debian.org/GettingHelpOnIrc
@arielmt this is a good general guide but the "be precise" part alone is what's more relevant to what i needed
lots of people in MCU circles going "can this do x" like. yeah. can you make it do it?
@mavica_again The only one I know of is the one written by the toxic ESR stream in '01 and revised until '14. His website gives me a hilarious SSL error, so here's a random GitHub fork of it instead: https://github.com/selfteaching/How-To-Ask-Questions-The-Smart-Way
