hey so my recent internet outage has really underlined the fact that my ISP's supplied cable modem/router combo actually completely sucks at being a router therefore I am thinking of getting a separate one
However I haven't purchased a router in many years so I would like to ask if anyone has any advice, things to look out for, recommendations etc

@lion i usually just go for the intersection of whatever looks good in the openwrt compatibility chart and is available used on ebay
i bought a tenda router probably close to ten years ago and it wasn't great but also that was close to ten years ago and it wasn't a model supported by openwrt. i usually go for tp-link just because that's what i know
