the best thing that ever happened to me was how a globalized internet helped me finally have friends and the worst thing that ever happened to me is how USA-centric that global internet is
it gets super, super desolate hearing about all these cool things happening in a country i don't live in where all my friends can meet up and i can't.
maybe i'll come off as an asshole for saying this (when do i not) but it actually felt quite comforting at the start of the pandemic when all USA cons and events got cancelled because for a while i felt a little less alone for living in the wrong country and only existing online
this is a really cool idea, especially as someone who isn't in the USA to attend anything. it would rule so much if someone was willing to do this with floppy disks. it'd really push me off my ass to continue DOS development
