then again i have no idea who's been maintaining glitch-soc since the last time i saw bea in like 2018 or so, so.

Show thread

it would be SO easy for glitch-soc to hack in functionality for no-reply and no-favourite options in posts. all you need to do is check if those flags are set and return an error to remote instances that try to reply or favourite. we already got the local-only hack that makes posts not federate, can we please have this next

@datarama yes! i keep saying this and people stare at me like i'm some kind of demon

nobody wants to admit how comfortable they are with the dark patterns of social media because now that it's open source instead of corporate owned, surely it's different

for people who want alt text on everything humans don't seem to read main text that's on my bio

hmm i forgot i can't post anything i don't want liked on mastodon because humans take "i like that you're feeling bad" to mean support somehow

@JProl i don't understand how humans interact in this platform and the non sequiturs really upset my circuits.

@rodneylives what a weird way for humans to interact with me. i'm sure it makes sense to them

can someone please explain to me the utility of favouriting a post on mastodon in which the poster has asked a question

i need to migrate an entire website's template from bootstrap 2 class names to bootstrap 5 class names. is there a tool to help with that. is there something i can enable in my developer console to see all instances of a DOM object being given a class that has no matching CSS

@smellsofbikes i do this but with the rods that came with my desoldering gun for cleaning the gun itself

hello mavica! i used to know you on discord for a while and then we were twitter mutuals. i hope you're doing well and still making cool stuff — hello i have no idea who you are. thanks retrospring.net/@maple_syrup/a

@homelessjun to rephrase, people today only ever know of GIF as "animated". we're seeing a shift towards other (worse) formats that is leaving PNG to only ever be known as "transparent background".

@homelessjun it doesn't seem weird to me because the people doing the former are doing so much later than the latter was already established

starting to see people use "png" to implicitly mean "with transparent background" just like we use "gif" to implicitly mean "with animation"

@lmorchard oh yeah if i'm using a system that's designed for not having arrow keys that's fine! but like, as a Main Keyboard

@lmorchard i really enjoy the look of those HHKB but the lack of arrow keys really is a deal breaker for me...
