i need more people to watch halt and catch fire so i have more people to talk about halt and catch fire with

@Angela a desktop is more serviceable/upgradeable, i made a point only to collect laptops now because they're more convenient to store, move and set up for use

@suricrasia the place we currently live in is absolutely barren which means i get to put a bunch of pixel art around there undisturbed lol

i've never been interested in place-type stuff like this but this might be the ticket

i went into google earth vr trying to see if i could feel vertigo flying upwards and instead i just visited familiar places with the starry night sky above me and got emotional about it

computers aren't the thing. they're the thing that get us to the thing

i need more people to watch halt and catch fire so i have more people to talk about halt and catch fire with

upsetting how much easier it is to find abandonware for mac than it is for windows

i can readily download reason 4 on macintosh garden

the windows version of reason 4 on internet archive is a pirated non-archived version that doesn't work

and the different pirated versions shown in 15 year old "how to install for free" youtube videos are long gone torrents because reason 4 is too old for normal people to care about

Had a dream @selectric and I (for some reason, hi Liz!) were remotely covering a computer trade show by restreaming it with our commentary and added reviews. I was in charge of setting up our OBS overlays and received from Intel a CPU and GPU combo for evaluation. First boot the fans screamed and the parts were so hot the components desoldered themselves from the boards. I swear even in dreams those guys can't get anything right. #TeamAMD

@jk if i had a penny for each time i've commented my own code with "this is bad!!” or "wrong way to do this" i could retire

@suricrasia i sometimes think about hacking into mastodon code to add an option to a post where, if set, the local instance will respond to remote attempts to favourite it with a 403

anyone who is inspired to make something meaningful to them, that must unfortunately interact with the morass of structurally arbitrary technological decisions we're surrounded by, is going to be so weighed down by the torture of navigating it all that naturally whatever they originally wanted to make will quickly seem less pertinent than making ever-more-efficient wound-licking devices (or perhaps a special shoe that, with 95%+ accuracy, can detect a rake before it hits your face)
