i'm probably just going to try to copy the old 98 partition on top of the new partition structure at this point
the quickrestore disc gave me the missing BIOS partition for this machine, but the windows 95 it does is kinda broken, and trying to upgrade or fresh install 98 in the OS partition it made keeps crashing...

the analogy isn't perfect but the point stands- the model that cinemas use (<30 minutes in you can ask for a refund) only works because films are *roughly* the same length
a fixed cap of <2 hours doesn't work in a medium where the playtime can range from 10 minutes to 100+ hours
