I think my favorite use of emoji responses on Slack/Discord/etc is when someone just latches onto a particular word in a message and attaches its emoji, with no semantic content intended. E.g. someone'll say "Sorry, the bus is running late" and someone else will just slap a 🚌 on there to confirm that they did indeed notice and recognize the word "bus"
no discord status message doesn't replace that shut up
need like a MSN messenger status message to tell everybody who the hell is fronting

I had some weirdo message me to let me know they were unfollowing me, citing the disparity between the number of people I follow vs those that follow me.
Here's the thing: I'm actively trying to spend less time on social media, and my compulsion to "complete" scrolling through new posts guarantees that I can only follow a few folks and still interact with them.
Not that I have to justify who I follow (or don’t follow), but that kind of shit reeks of purity mindset. Fuck that.
