internet armchair internet historians say that it's SO WEIRD how long the sega mega drive kept being sold in brazil and ignore that you could still get the same sega atgames SoC hardware in the USA during the same period including the radica and the handheld

this is why people just use mega drive controllers instead

i paid $70 (the cheapest i could find without importing from overseas) for a master system controller that's yellowed and chipped, opened it up and gave it a good once-over cleaning the contacts to get it to a good shape, and one day later it STILL stopped working 😓

if i tried today (and i should!) i could probably get something even more impressive out of the psg chip but for 8 years old i really like this track, at that point i hadn't heard anyone else use periodic noise for bass (i've since then learnt it wasn't COMPLETELY unheard of)

other chiptune artists: the sn76489 is worthless, you can't compose anything good for it!

not only is the directional button on the original control pad already not great, the tectoy versions were built MUCH cheaper, making it kind of a nightmare to use lol

but ~authenticity~

i 100%d it (6 stones, but didn't buy all shop items) on the lizardcube remake on easy, am now playing it on normal and saving my passwords as i go if i decide to continue my game on the master system

wonder if i can play as well on the very iffy control pad
