i say this having been on mastodon since the april 2017 wave, having founded and maintained a public instance for 4 years. mastodon is flawed and the biggest people running it are often even more flawed

i want to be able to post emoji spam and non-described pictures sometimes and not get called out of it because someone digitally across the fediverse globe from me had a panic attack for seeing my posts when that person maybe just didn't have to be shown my post at all in the first place

more close-knit groups, segregated from each other, all with their own little schisms. no need to fight over who's got the remote

mastodon would be better if it wasn't federated, imo. we already have themed instances, now if only they didn't all have to coexist in the same network fighting over which rules are the best rules, maybe we wouldn't resent each other so much

and this is why i don't think social media as an inherent concept is good, at all at all at all

mastodon is the nicotine patch for twitter for many people and all twitter was was the pooling of several different types of people together

the internet needs to be segmented again imo, and we need not all try to please every single person together all at once

join a forum for your interests. or a subreddit, or something. your life doesn't need to fit all in a single basket

i wish all my neighbours a very enfia a porra do rojão no cu caralho

If you’re new to Mastodon, you may at some point find that you’re being pressured to put your posts behind a content warning (CW). Although CWs make sense for things like images of violence or nudity, some people are bullying others to put CWs on discussions of politics, racism, etc.
Please know that you should not feel pressured to obey these individuals. They do not speak for all. If someone does not want to be exposed to these topics, Mastodon gives them all the tools they need to avoid them, such as keyword filters and the ability to block or mute people who are posting things they don’t like.

back in april 2017 i absolutely drank the mastodon koolaid and i paid the price for stepping out of line once. done with playing nice tbh

"some of us just want to live and don't want to inadvertently be part of someone's polycule. i'm sorry if it sounds like i'm exaggerating but i'm not. this kind of toxic culty shit is everywhere now."

anon-quoting someone else on twitter to make their words my own:

"if the internet is headed in the direction where if you're a queer trans person with blue hair you have to post in a place where people will scream at you for not putting content warnings on a post about eating food because nowhere else is "safe" then this sucks, i'm sorry"

watching people flee from twitter into mastodon ever since april of 2017 over and over again is like watching wily e. coyote run into the same wall with a tunnel painted on it every single time and it's fucking endearing

This decentralized network welcomes hackers, phreaks, virii coders, crackers, cyberpunk wannabees, civil liberties groups, cypherpunks, futurists, artists, and anyone anti-commercial. ↯94JAN
