Trying to do 15 reactions this afternoon. Next step: Measure our reagents into each and every one of these.

I would stream this, but since we got new grad students there are a few too many people around.

@LottieVixen I'm rather hoping for that as an outcome...I _use_ Discord but I do not really trust it.

That's it everyone, ditch Discord, back to IRC!

@IrisKalmia @Ulfra_Wolfe Yes, we have been trying and failing to use Discord for some minutes now.

pictured is @kara_dreamer, with a new friend she purchased for me.

@KitRedgrave I consider this almost a strength. Package dependencies are proliferating like an invasive weed, and have made using Linux almost an intolerable experience (well, not that it was ever that close to tolerable). Once programmers had to seek references for higher functionality like "Numerical Recipes" with some understanding of what code they were borrowing. Now they can simply add in some package, lazily, uncomprehendingly.

@KitRedgrave *winces* I dispute the "fast", in this case, and I really hate to see another developer contributing, even for understandable reasons, to the further degradation in functionality and utility of desktop computing. node.js really is _ruining_ things for all of us, you know...

@KitRedgrave Well, sure, but nothing _good_! One can acknowledge its ubiquity, but that is rather like deciding on a career as a McDonalds short-order cook because there's one on every street corner.

@KitRedgrave But...the entire idea behind node.js is one of the most catastrophically ill-conceived in the history of personal computing

@Admin @Ulfra_Wolfe One day, Tony, I do hope that you will advance past the level of infantile platitudes as a moral compass. I know that the lovely simplification thus offered must seem like truth, but the world does not work the way you think it does.

@Ulfra_Wolfe @Admin I'm more in favour of a swift knee to the groin, myself. I'd rather not risk injuring my hand on a fascist's face.

Reading chemical articles on Wikipedia makes me want to burn the entire thing down.

@kara_dreamer Well done. I sense that you are feeling somewhat tired, so I will give you a half-hour to relax before turning our attention to more productive matters again.

@yeenbat No, I simply gave up completely *smiles* While I have some ideas I'd like to see put into effect, my general experience of computer and especially game programming has been almost purely negative, and I have never succeeded in forcing myself to work on programming for very long at a time.

organizing

since i didn't say, i'm currently working on this here affordableseattle.net/ which i urge all Seattleites to visit.

above and beyond legislative and electoral efforts, if we really get a good response from folks, we'd love to help build solid tenant organizations and get some fuckin' _rent strikes_ up in here.

down with the rentier class, housing is a human right!

@yeenbat I confess I'm referring back to memories about a year old; I haven't done anything recent with Unity. So I cannot remember what version it was. Fortunately the project I was working on relied largely on 3D structures that I could define mathematically, so I sidestepped the editor completely as much as possible.

@kara_dreamer then I think we should work away from the computer for a time, and report back no later than 1 pm, having taken some time to clean up around the household and perhaps eat a small meal.

@Ulfra_Wolfe @kara_dreamer Ah, thank you! I was fairly certain I could count on your support in this. *smiles*
