Working on a making a blog, which means this is the third time I try to make a static site generator

You see, I have this affliction that means I just can't use existing blog software, I have to make my own. I hope I finish before my motivation runs out like every other time or I may be doomed to do this again and again like Sisyphus.

One of the good signs this time around is that I'm actually interested in writing blog posts, and not just making a half-baked attempt at a static site generator before realizing that I don't have anything to write about.

One of the bad signs is that I'm writing my static site generator in shell script.

@quirk i went with using grav which isn't per se blogging software but rather a much more robust and customizable CMS than wordpress - i had to do plenty of work to build up a template which would display posts with publish dates and tags etc and there's some idiosyncrasies but overall i felt it was more fulfilling than using blog software and not quite as crushing as making it all from scratch
