Today goes out to women of color, for whom trying to exist too often turns into a death sentence

Today goes out to the teens, whose lives are endangered by those sworn to protect them

Today goes out to those who succumbed, for whom the pain was too great to live through

Today goes out to our elders, who've lost friends and family to AIDS and carry their memories like scars

To those of us lucky and resilient enough to survive in a world that hates us, I say thank you for showing us that there is hope and that collectively we can live.

To those daring enough to take their first steps out of the metaphorical closet, I say I will protect you and I will be with you every step of the way.

To those whose names are not yet known and might never be, I say I love you and I see you, and I will fight for you.

To those who would rather see us dead than happy, those for whom our existence is a topic of debate, to the doctors, lawmakers, and chasers, I will come for you. We will come for you.

Today we remember those of us who couldn't make it. We remember that our very existence is radical and powerful. That our bodies, our minds, and our souls are beautiful.

Remember to breathe today.

Breathe for those who can't, and breathe for the future.

Our black cat is pretty concerned about something and I’m not sure what. It’s either our other cats being mean, or she thinks I’m not eating enough of the mice she’s leaving. Or maybe that I didn’t give her any cheese this morning.

Anyway, no one tell her that I’m just disposing of the mouse bits.
