Today I worked some more on my blog generator

I had to replace characters with html escape sequences, and then I had to escape that again to be able to put that string as a replacement in a sed substitution command

That took a while and in the end it's like two lines of code but it's two important lines

I feel like I've learned a lot about sed

@rysiek poast got hacked a while back, somebody looked up all the emails and matched them to their linkedin accounts: maia.crimew.gay/posts/meet-the

"when a gem is made, it's for a reason. they burst out of the ground already knowing what they're supposed to be, and that's what they are. forever. but you? you're *supposed* to change. you're never the same, even moment to moment! you're allowed and expected to invent who you are. what an incredible power, the ability to grow up..."

A friend recommended unplugging everything from the wall, turning the power switch off entirely, pressing the power-on button a few times then plugging everything back in and turning it back on. It turned on, which is very good, but slightly scarier than if it were simply broken

@retr0id agree and also stop turning any numbers into phone number link

I had to write a date with commas instead of dashes to stop todoist from turning it into a phone number (used iso date format 2023-07-31)

web apps stop turning domain-shaped strings into clickable links challenge 2023 [HARD]

If I wanted a link I'd have prefixed with http[s]://

"i think you have a serious problem with pizza."
"i don't have a problem with pizza!"
"I DUNNO KIKI. I THINK YOU DO."

the mods of /r/welding gradually ramped it up over a few years and the current logo is *really* unsubtle

Went to a radar museum today and frankly, more systems should have dedicated buttons called "pigeons"

"only showing the first 100 errors, of 50392 total"

good morning to you too, java.

@hikari That's the only kind of computer I have, and while I have been thinking about getting a laptop it's just not the same

I used to play a PS5 game online with a friend and route the game sound through HDMI to the screen and then 3.5 mm audio cable to my PC so I could have discord and game sound together in my headphones, (and discord and game side by side on my monitors), I was so happy when I figured out that setup

@hikari @whitequark When downsampling, multiple samples become one, noise is different in the different samples and (mostly) cancels out when averaged, while signal is mostly the same and so it stays

That's my guess anyways, I'm not an audio engineer 🤷‍♀️

Back in Feb, when Grammarly said they were going to think about incorporating AI, I immediately canceled my account and uninstalled. And now they've actually done it.

I'm sharing because with everything going on, writers might not realize this is happening.
