But haven't you heard? Rust is fast and safe!!! You don't need to think applicability to your specific task and compare the tradeoffs, not when Rust is fast and safe!!!11!!!!!1!1!1! Nothing else is safe, certainly not basically every language other than C and C++; and nothing else has ever been fast either, it's not like even Java is fast enough to run on 2003-era microcontrollers embedded in tiny SIM cards!

something that always gets me when doing crosstalk analysis:

when looking at plots of bad crosstalk situations, I have this *visceral* urge to adjust the filtering of the scope frontend to make the waves all nice again

"A proposal, dear reader:

Create a list of bookmarks linking to websites you find interesting, and publish it for the world to see. It's a bit strange, almost nobody seems to be doing this. Looking through a sample of personal websites, very few of them has links to other personal websites. A hyperlink isn't a marriage proposal. It is enough to find some redeeming quality in a website to link to it. It costs nothing, and helps bring traffic to pages that you yourself think deserve it."

Saw this kid speedcubing on the bus… they were like 8 or 9. They were pretty good actually

and... damn. I have so much more respect for Neils Bohr now. I'm actually mad none of this shit comes up in physics class. science is inherently political

actually I think the worst thing about the current hype cycle for AI toys is that it's debasing some legitimately interesting and actually practical uses for AI, like compression and data mining.

me putting "shh" instead of "ssh": be very quiet, I'm trying to hack

@matt our "the seagulls don't work for us" sign has people asking a lot of questions already answered by our sign.

Hey, if anyone ever worried about the safe zones of a Mastodon banner image, I got you covered. Pink areas are obscured by the mobile website, blue are obscured by the desktop website. The second one is a transparent PNG that you can just paste in as a new layer in Photoshop, Krita, CSP, etc, at the maximum 1500x500 pixels.
