me, a young person in 1998, watching mulan, a film about a person coerced by social obligation to adopt an artificial and discomfiting gender role which she must maintain at all times or risk exile, and who will only be accepted in her true gender identity if she surpasses an unrealistically high level of personal achievement far in excess of her cisnormative peers: ... huh

I came out trans to my wife in february. then in march, thanks to the pandemic, I lost my job so I’ve been transitioning in quarantine - today she shows me this and says “look it’s you!” https://redd.it/hp5to7

And platform exclusive "podcasts" on for example Spotify... Are they even podcasts anymore?
It's like they take a blog website and put it into an proprietary news app and still claim that it's a blog website?!?
When the hosts of a podcast read out an ad that is just million times better than a spliced in ad. I always want to skip ads that are spliced in, but I'm usually fine with listening to the hosts read an ad.
technical question, advertising
I'm listening to a podcast from the BBC, which says "this podcast is supported by advertising outside of the UK" and then plays an ad.
Except the ads have all been specifically for Australia. I assume they're not just spamming all listeners with ads for Australian banks, but then my question is this:
How do they know to send Australian ads to my podcatcher?
How do they insert specialised advertising part-way into an mp3 file?
But there are some things that haven't changed I'm glad to see that on my DeviantArt I was using she/her pronouns already back then
ps. and that is why I love that the new one you've made for me @mavica is a bit different
It reflects a change in who I am ✨
The word dogtag (wait is it two words? damn! I've got it wrong this whole time), anyways, The word dog tag has multiple meanings, or at least it's used in multiple contexts, it's either a small metal tag attached to a dog's collar, usually for identification, or it's a similar tag attached to a necklace worn by military personnel for the same purpose
I feel like since 2010 I've moved from using one sense of that word to the other
💖 ✨
Around that same time I had a DeviantArt account that I had forgotten but recently stumbled upon again, and I had a hexagonal dogtag as the avi there, here is what it looks like
Why a hexagonal dogtag? Because of Battlestar Galactica! I used to watch that show and the spin-off show Caprica back in 2009-2010-ish
New avi by @mavica
It's a hexagonal dogtag with an 'S' inscribed, the S stands for Sara which is my name (I have not had it changed legally yet, but I will soon enough)
