I honestly did not expect the Windows 11 installer to BSOD when running from a USB. I'm not sure what to do now.
The error I get in the BSOD is SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in Ntfs.sys.
I feel that's not a lot of information to go on.
Curiously, my Fedora Linux Live USB is working just fine. It boots and everything. Didn't try to mount the NTFS partition on the SSD though. And it doesn't have drivers for the wifi, maybe cause it's an old version of the linux live distro I just had lying around. So, I couldn't test everything. But at least there's no problem with the RAM.
I was going to reinstall windows, that also crashes. I created a windows 11 install media on a USB drive. And when I boot from it, shortly after the install guide opens, I get a blue screen again.
@hikari@social.noyu.me I still miss when YouTube allowed people to submit translated subtitles for videos. That was such a great feature.
two replies i got that i want to highlight:
• someone wished social media could crowdsource alt text, and i love this idea. i'd rather have a diverse set of interpretations than make it an all-or-nothing obligation on the original poster
• a tiny summary is better than nothing
The developer of Simple Mobile Tools, an Android app suite which has been historically well respected in the FOSS space, has sold their apps to a company called ZipoApps, a company that buys apps from independent developers to add advertisements and trackers to them. I highly suggest uninstalling any of the Simple Mobile Tools apps you have on your device and looking for alternatives.

@neauoire another thing that's part of this “myth”, i guess, is that the website i put up, https://hikari.noyu.me/, has this flying stars effect i'm really proud of, using WebGL. it's sort of a way to show off my graphics programming skills, but in truth, it was actually the first time i'd successfully written anything non-trivial in OpenGL — the skill i was demonstrating was one i had only acquired by the process of demonstrating it. and it ended up being useful in my career!
a twitter bio is a lie you tell yourself about who you want to be, that with some effort, might eventually be a truth
