So, uh, if you see an orb in public, DO NOT PONDER IT, because it's going to steal your biometrics and give them to the worst people in silicon valley:

I've come to the conclusion that clothes are a liquid, they fill out any container you put them in and they readily drip into the floor forming little puddles

I once said something about it being risky to have the art on the fediverse disproportionately controlled by a single instance. Artist's reach and livelihoods end up being at the mercy of a few instance admins.

Being an artist on social media is terrible on all platforms now. Both on the Fediverse and on corporate social media. This is why I just put all my stuff on my website. At least I don't have to deal with all this drama and instability.

Important PSA!
The movie "How to Blow Up a Pipeline" (NOT the book) depicts bomb-making in a way that, if emulated, could seriously harm an activist. The consultant on bomb-making was a high-ranking US counter-terrorism official, according to the directors.

"How do I name the function that rounds to an integer closest to a given float?"
Most languages: "I think `round` is a good name for this"
C, distractedly, tangled in red yarn and wearing a tinfoil hat: "lrint. Definitely lrint"

One of the bad signs is that I'm writing my static site generator in shell script.

One of the good signs this time around is that I'm actually interested in writing blog posts, and not just making a half-baked attempt at a static site generator before realizing that I don't have anything to write about.

Working on a making a blog, which means this is the third time I try to make a static site generator

You see, I have this affliction that means I just can't use existing blog software, I have to make my own. I hope I finish before my motivation runs out like every other time or I may be doomed to do this again and again like Sisyphus.

Found a map that contains a smaller version of itself, recursively, two levels deep 😍

What rest becomes when you get chronic illness

Becoming chronically ill means you have to totally redefine what rest is.

Before, rest could mean chilling, binge watching my favourite series, and playing video games.

Now rest can mean sleeping for 14 hours. When awake, forcing myself not to think much. No reading, no watching, no lights. Eat bland food. Be in the dark, and be extremely bored.

I luckily have recovered enough that I don't need this type of rest too often. But in early burnout it was daily. I can't express how difficult it is to have ADHD and purposefully try not to think. I was excruciatingly bored and understimulated. But I had to rest. It sucked. I got the smallest taste of what severe ME/CFS can be like. I take fatigue very seriously now. Fatigue goes so much deeper. The fatigue I knew before was the kiddy pool.

Don't get chronic fatigue, folks. It's not fun.

Oh I'm sorry you wanted *less* cable spaghetti? i swear you said you wanted *more*. I even bought a new roll of ESD tape to wrangle it all.

Got the baseT test fixture cabled up so I can troubleshoot g13's link issues after work, but didn't have time to collect any data yet.

If you haven't seen it before, this is a handy dandy little gizmo consisting of two RJ45 jacks connected back to back by dual directional couplers.

This gives me 16 SMA outputs with 10 dB attenuated views of each of the 8 wires in the twisted pair cable, seen from both directions. I'm using an 8 channel PicoScope 6824E to look at all 8 lines coming out of the DP83867, ignoring the inbound data from the other side.

Since it seems #Google has decided to uni-laterally force through their new anti-#adblock #DRM euphemistically named "Web environment integrity", I decided to add a little bit of code to my website that blanks out the page and displays a protest message with a link to the firefox download page when you visit it from a browser with this DRM feature. Here's the source inside one toot, feel free to copy and put it at the end of your website's <body> before the closing tag:
