payment processor behavior and how it chills survivor stories of abuse
Something a lot of people (including myself) miss with the whole puritanical "adult content" ban stuff is it also sweeps under the rug people telling stories of abuse. This doesn't come up because the entire stage is built around content written for sexual gratification, but it's just as dangerous.
For example, under the current adult content ban pushed by Visa/MC/etc, it would not be permissible to tell the stories of trafficking and abuse that go on in the Mormon or Catholic Churches; at least not without skipping a lot of the facts and being buffered into respectability.
Where's the line where they'd step in? Well no one knows, that's the problem. Is just telling a story of someone experiencing that abuse enough? You'd have to do the work then find out.
This isn't more or less important than any other aspect of it, but it's one to look out for that is just as insidious and sneaky as the rest.
