Well that's the end of an era; the last day using Windows on my desktop. When I wake up I'm installing Gentoo on it.
@tryst Yarp but I always end up really vibing with it; the way it works sort of slots right into my way of thinking.
I've got LMDE on backup just in case.
@renbymon I hope it's the start of a new era, and ideally a better one! I've been using Linux since 1995, and only used Windows when forced to (generally for work) since 2010.
@dh Honestly I've just needed an excuse to put in the work to switch; since having a BSOD a few weeks ago Windows fails to boot on the first attempt and has to be rebooted before it will start fully! x)
@renbymon I do think in general things have become more difficult to manage nowadays, as previous flat text configurations were the way everything went and it was easy to see what did what, copy across machines and adjust as necessary, and that's become unpopular nowadays. It's probably easier to get started nowadays, though, as setup from scratch has improved no end in the last three decades!
