Good morning, Fediverse! And I wonder, has anyone played (and figured out) Brataccas?

What an odd but interesting game. As a fan of Psygnosis, it's pretty neat to go back to their first-ever game born out of the ashes of the ZX Spectrum mega-game that never was, Bandersnatch. One of two games that helped sink the first big UK video game company, Imagine.

I tried puzzling it out without checking what instructions there might be, but didn't get very far. It defaults to mouse controls as well, which makes it feel like you're playing QWOP or something like that.

As well as being a VERY early Amiga game, it was also released on Atari ST and Apple Macintosh. Someone pointed out elsewhere that it runs in medium resolution on ST and the miggy looked like one of the usual direct ports, which makes sense with how hi-res and sharp the graphics feel.

man shapeshifting powers are WASTED on non-furries.

@quincyotter Yeah I definitely want to have stiff/solid ears! Thanks for the info! 💛💜

I'm not sure if I'm gonna end up using the straps in the final product as I've got to build up the jaw/cheeks and ears and given they're further back it might just be easier to enclose my head fully in foam.

Gonna look at some more tutorials and see if I can find a better solution.

@PsyChuan Getting a Renamon suit has been a goal of mine ever since then! 💛💜

@PsyChuan That suit is 100% the reason I became a Renamon; I saw photos of it in the early 2000s and my brain went "Oh! I'm a Renamon!"

Been a Renamon ever since!! 💛💜

The OpenAI tussle is between the faction who think Skynet will kill them if they build it, and the faction who think Roko's Basilisk will torture them if they don't build it hard enough.

A bit more progress on my head! Brained good enough to fit the head straps and test the fit; nice and comfy! Now I need to work on the ears, etc!

Source code for Infocom’s original interpreters released: with little fanfare, Andrew Plotkin uploaded a trove of newly-discovered source code for various 1980s computers to GitHub arstechnica.com/gaming/2023/11

"young people can't buy homes because they'd rather buy big fancy TVs"

I am begging older generations to understand that televisions have gone from "a thing that costs 4 months' salary" to "a thing you get for free when your roommate moves and can't be bothered to take it"
