Built myself a streamdeck thingie!
It works well, buuuuuut the switches are too clicky to use near the mic. Damn it!
I got some quieter switches, but they make a reeeeally annoying squeak. Can anyone recommend good lube?
For the switches!

Irregular reminder that I have a pretty nice collection of 88x31 buttons on my website, and would gladly expand it with yours~
Poke me for a trade! :dragn_heart:

I've got some news about office environments. The absolute worst part for me was dealing with the rampant gossip and laziness. People would chat all day, accomplish next to nothing, and then pretend they were some kind of heroes for staying late. People walk around, take lunch or bathroom breaks, attend meetings, etc. Office or Home people will walk around. Stop writing stupid stories to promote back-to-office culture and risk everyone’s health.

My slides for my #EuroBSDcon talk "Building a Modern Packet Radio Network using Open Software", an overview of what myself and others have been doing to support the UK Packet Radio Network, are available on the con system:

- Slide PDF: events.eurobsdcon.org/media/20

- event page events.eurobsdcon.org/2024/tal

The talk is available on the live stream feeds - I start at 3:21:50 or at the following direct link:

I hit most of my main talking points, but there is some stuff in my notes I missed. I had a blast and it was a great weekend of pragmatic, technical and interesting conversation! I'm open for chat and can talk about radios alllll day!

Kinda hit a satisfying result with this croptop, so I decided to do a little render with my character wearing it.

It was... Very much a quick render, but I wanted to do *something* today x3

Got asked how they were made:
I built them using high-density EVA foam! The surface detail was laser-cut and then glued to the disc base. Afterward, I further detailed the coins using a dremel, primed and painted them.

Ended up getting a couple commissions again this month, one of them being another perma-suit thing...

@Jencen In my experience FlashFloppy made the experience much easier, though it is even more improved with an OLED display showing the disk details.

@dalias @dragonarchitect Also on top of that making error messages indistinguishable from update/information messages is not good for user comprehension. In my experience it's very common for informational messages to be received by end users as errors and vice versa.

Error/progress UX is perhaps the biggest regression in computer UX over the past few decades.

Then: exactly what's happening, detailed description of what went wrong sufficient to diagnose and fix the problem.

Now: fake percentage bar that moves asymptotically towards 100% while nothing happens, then "Something Went Wrongβ„’"

fyi to linux users, the unofficial signal desktop flatpak doesnt use the freedesktop Secrets API no matter what you do and leaves your keys completely unencrypted

you can just dump .var/apps/org.signal.Signal and read everything stored

if you're concerned, you should probably use the native pakcage

For the Trek fans amongst my friends - Master Replicas and Bodum have got together to re-release the Bistro cup - the one that Picard used to drink his Earl Grey from in the TNG era. There's a limited pre-order here: masterreplicas.com/products/th

I got a draft and I can't stop looking at it; all the proportions are spot on and it's making me feel so good!!!!
