Progressing along - I didn't realize that there wasn't a modifier to slice up an object with a grid. There are many tools that can do this, but they're all destructive, and I needed to be able to move rough shapes around as there's only a general idea of the pattern of the scutes. The wrapping process needs vertices to work.

So, first thing this morning was making a geo node tree that would do that, so I could freely edit the base shapes while having enough geometry that they would wrap. Once I have the shapes and positions right, I'll make finer geometry so everything will print nicely.

Oh, and ignore the colors - they're random by object. Id did that so y'all are bedazzled by the reference colors I have the base feet marked in for guides.

It is absolutely amazing to me that one dude is responsible not only for furry conventions, but also anime conventions. Were it not for him starting the very first anime club in the US, that eventually forked into clubs all over the United States, we would probably not have anime conventions. Absolutely amazing piece of fandom history we've lost in him. Rest in peace, Sy Sable.
