Out of the box, XFCE doesn't acknowledge me clicking on the touchpad, just moving it around.
Good job I know my keyboard navigation from those old Win95 days.
Letting it update to see if that fixes it, otherwise it's on to Cinnamon.

Well Zorin is a no-go. Their terminal instructions for installing the Surface firmware doesn't work at step 5, and instructions others have said to fix it just caused it to error on boot.
On to Linux Mint XFCE as that was my first choice until I heard about Zorin.

I need help identifying a vintage connector..
does anyone have an idea what this 12-pin plug is called, or can provide me with a link to the appropriate counterpart (or even have one at hand to sell me)?
This is on a Siemens paper tape reader, ca. 1960, originally meant to be connected to a Gretag Tape Sender.
Boosts appreciated :-)

Estradiol is very fragile, since it can be taken sublingually. I find this problematic when I travel - when I leave the bare pills in the bottle, they rub against each other, and turn to dust ):

To fix this, I have designed and 3D printed some pill holders that keep the pills from moving around. It also fits it my existing CVS pill bottle :3

FWIW, Mussolini didn't "make the trains run on time." He just ordered the Italian press to write that the trains were running on time.

That's how authoritarianism works. Fascist sympathisers in other countries fell for it.

Found a Surface Pro 6 with 128 SSD for cheaper, so yay me.

Lol they just messaged me as they advertised it as 256 SSD while it actually has a 128 SSD.
So, waiting for the refund so I can go hunting again.

Spent my childhood optimizing CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to fit everything into 640 KB.

Now one browser tab needs 2 GB of RAM so 17 analytics companies can find out I looked at socks.

Saved up enough to buy a second-hand Surface Pro 5 to replace my Pro 3.
Nervous as it was £90, which is a massive amount for me, but if it works then yay. Granted, running Win8.1 on it was actually an okay experience, but once the replacement arrives, I'll be using it as a dedicated Linux machine (Zorin, probably) so I can get used to that.
Hate spending money, though... grew up poor and that's never left me.

Parents "protecting" their children are a big part of the reason we're in this shit.
Parents tell "white lies" about their own health, and the result is people who'll say "she was fine until yesterday, now she's dead because of doctors!"
They use vague stories instead of the blunt truth about predators, and we get roblox.
They wave away the horrors of Nazism, and we get, well, Nazis.
Children must be protected from bastards, not from the truth.

my mom was like "why are they called soap operas" so I started to explain the whole commercial sponsored aspect and she went

yeah okay but why are they OPERAS

and I had to go to wikipedia to find out and then I got to read her this sentence:

The term was preceded by "horse opera", a derogatory term for low-budget Westerns.

FYI for those in the US, I just got a scam call saying I had missed jury duty, and it seemed pretty legit up to a point. Eventually enough little clues added up that I hung up and called the county office of jury duty management who immediately informed me it was a scam. They almost had me going for a bit, they had a lot of information about me already.

Anubis has a pretty solid business strategy:

1) Release open source software for free
2) Add catgirl branding
3) Charge companies to remove catgirl branding

How to make good open source project:
- plaster pride flags everywhere (keeps bigots away)
- swear constantly (keeps ai away)
- sex (keeps corporations away)
