PSA for anyone using signal groups to organize during protests
tl;dr: please check that both options in settings > privacy > phone number are set to "nobody"
if "who can find me by my number" is "everyone" (the default), signal will reveal the association of your account and number to group members who already know your number, which, considering the possibility of schools collaborating with police and providing student info, may or may not be a plausible way to de-anonymize you!
"Before I introduced a screen time limit, there was too much watching of YouTube. We need rules!"
Idk, mate. Have you considered that screen time issues are related to the lack of spaces for kids and teens to do things? Because most kids I work with would love to have something to do that isn't "go to the mall and wander aimlessly every weekend," which is all they've got other than their phones or whatever.
These spaces were disappearing when *I* was a kid, and I'm almost 40. Hell, even as an adult, there aren't many places for me to go because they all fucking cost money just to find a "community." Not to mention how uncomfortable they all are.
You can change behaviours by creating a world where kids and teens can freely exist and stop ostracising them from society, among many other things.

"A sickness known as hate. Not a virus, not a microbe, not a germ - but a sickness nonetheless, highly contagious, deadly in its effects. Don't look for it in the Twilight Zone - look for it in a mirror.
Look for it before the light goes out altogether." - Rod Serling, “The Twilight Zone”

GERMANY HAS PASSED SELF-ID LAWS!
The Federal Republic joins 20 countries which have passed laws allowing people to declare their own legal gender. I hope someday this will apply across the whole EU.
On a more personal level, this means I can finally change my own legal gender to #nonbinary 🎉🏳️⚧️
My close friend just got their Steam page approved for the game they've been putting nights and weekends into for over 8 years!
I think it's a truly special game, with great puzzles and an absurd amount of hidden content to discover. It has a cute artstyle and a banger original soundtrack.
Wishlist today to appease the steam algorithm and tell your friends!!
Boosts greatly appreciated!!

Forget the xz/liblzma backdoor in Linux distros, there's a confirmed backdoor in D-Link Network Attached Storage (NAS) products. Username is messagebus with an empty password. Tracked as CVE-2024-3273 (7.3 high, disclosed 26 March 2024), D-Link refuses to patch it because "All D-Link Network Attached storage has been End of Life and of Service Life for many years [and] the resources associated with these products have ceased their development and are no longer supported" 🔗 https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/over-92-000-exposed-d-link-nas-devices-have-a-backdoor-account/
