@multiple_creatures tbh, i like this flow, since it makes it easier to avoid authoritarian structures of governance.

the open nature of the fedi makes asking about specific things feel weird when you're used to a forum setting for that

on a forum you get structure and road signs that tells you exactly where you need to be for the thing you're looking for

on fedi you slide your house window open and yell your question thru a bullhorn

a fox trotting down the sidewalk at 4:20 in the morning yells back the answer

if you want to know...

@Guinevere@girlcock.club oh no worries, yet

the culture of the project isn't going to impact the culture of fediverse, because each instance admin has their own power to influence things

because the project isn't centralized, there is no one person that can influence the culture of the fediverse instantly

with that said, as long as mastodon is the only instance server used by most instances, then things are a bit more fragile than they seem. since, admins can't control the project.

if you want to know...

@Guinevere@girlcock.club oh goodness, i don't wanna gossip, haha, and i also don't want to scare people away

but, if you really want to know - i'd say that the reality is that projects ran by cishet white guys are probably not going to have the frame of reference that lends themselves towards becoming safe spaces

less generally, gargron can sometimes be really narrow minded and reject community suggestions based on Programmer Logic without considering from a people based point of view

so, the reason that i had originally created my own instance was so that i could watch and learn how activitypub worked. instead, i think that i learned a lot more about how gargron thinks and how the project's internal politics ended up influencing its structure.

that's really interesting to me. also, activitypub as a protocol is simple it turns out. the downside is that implementing it is more of an art than a science. it tells you what to do but not how to do it.

like a reverse cookbook.

now, to wait. and... like a newly watered plant, my home timeline shall grow once more, mwuahahaha

also, there's something to be said about having an active local timeline. it's nice to have neighbors. i'm too attached to people to just go solo again, tbh

it was too quiet

in a way, it's kinda nice to start over without anyone following me

takes some pressure off :blobowo:

i've never been much for clout :blobshrug:

hi, this is actually the same scarly crow that used to reside at soc.scarly.pink

i'm going to be lazy now and go back to my original home instance while i continue to plan on how to overthrow the world and bring about a socialist revolution

@zac this is brilliant! i will take you up on this when i get a bit further in my current project tbh

@zac lmfao, i wondered how many folks caught on to that!

probably, i'm going to go and try to refollow everyone that i followed, and half the people will be like, "who dis?!" even tho the name matches

also, my instance is just too ponderous atm to keep up with. i failed at upgrading mastodon, and it ate my db Somehow. i tried doing some basic cleanup and that didn't work. finally, i thought about pleroma, but i really don't like its interface

i am defeated, but at least i still have a home

@Chel @behold3r we should make the Arrangements. first ill delete nations and create a socialist empire, next...
