yesterday i had to do the pen melting trick to loosen a screw and now i have this gnarly melted pen body i don't know what to do with computerfairi.es/media/ARlwq2f

@envgen if you can't take a screw out because the head got messed up or you don't have the right bit for it you can melt the empty body of a pen like this one, push it against the screw so it forms to it and wait until the pen solidifies again, then use it as a makeshift screwdriver to get the screw out

@squirrel i get ~80% success with the rubber band method. this is the next level of screwcharming

@squirrel @envgen Oooo is that the one you where you lay a wide, flat rubber band over the head of the screw and try and screw the screw through that to unscrew it help words have stopped meaning things

@Nine @squirrel you did real good ren, your words held out til the last moment

@squirrel get a rubber band (a wide one) and put it over the screw, then put the screwdriver into the screw head through the rubber band

it works for a lot of stubborn screws but not the stubbornest

@envgen oh in my case the screw head just decided to disintegrate into metal shavings

and i don't have rubber bands, so
