Fun fact: the can opener was invented over 4 decades after the idea of preserving food in cans

"Hey, I've come up with a revolutionary way of preserving food!"
"That sounds hella cool!"
"Yeah, you just put it in one of these cans!"
"How do you get it out again?"
"Uhh... shit"

@troubleMoney iiii mean, there's always the classic way.

... first. assume a spherical can [...] :tinking:

@troubleMoney I believe the canning process of food was first invented/developed exclusively for army use, where it's incredibly common to have a knife on your person, so you could open the can with that?

later, when canned food became available to everyone, the same wasn't true or maybe the old method was found to be too difficult/messy/whatever for consumers, so someone found an easier way of opening cans? 🤔

@troubleMoney lol 😆😅 I thought you might be jokin', but I couldn't resist an opportunity to share some obscure trivia 😂
