realising that goddamn so many things in recent memory needed separate batteries like wiimotes, and realising as well I had totally forgotten that because things with buiult in batteries that you just connect via USB or a dock to charge them are so ubiquitous now.
@Nine I prefer separate batteries
with the integrated ones you can't take spare leccy from one thing and put it in another
@troubleMoney this is true, actually. Be nice if we could have removable rechargable standardized batteries again tho
@troubleMoney oh dang I just thought about like if electric cars instead of a charging cable you just open up like a box and take out a bunch of little super high tech rechargable batteries that work in every device that needs a battery, and just swap out the drained ones, pop in fresh ones, slot it back in, then slap the drained ones in a charger at home :D
@Nine I remember something about prospective hydrogen fuel cell tech, they were imagining a suitcase-sized box that you'd use to power your car, or your tiny house, or whatever and you could carry it around, plug it into whatever you wanted to power, and refill it
it was some sort of tomorrow's world crap but it sounds like a lovely idea
