@squirrel here's the most useful thing I've found so far on the "making your wm pretty" front

github.com/grassmunk/Platinum9

It's got a theme for xfce, icons, and gtk2

It won't cover everything because linux has 3 different ui toolkits which all have to be themed differently because of course it fucking does but it might be a good start?

@troubleMoney ok this is the closest I've seen to an accurate os9 theme hmm

@squirrel the most important thing missing is a gtk3 theme but someone may have come up with something that'll look decent with it

@squirrel wait, hang on, you're bloody good at css and that's what gtk3 themes are primarily made with

if you find yourself in need of gtk3 stuff often you could probably modify an existing theme to work with it better

@squirrel I believe in you!

It'd be a bit easier than working with masto themes and you did a cracking job on this 'un

@troubleMoney i don't know where to begin and i'm bad at reading through big manuals without someone guiding me

@squirrel if you start with an existing theme it should give you a good framework, then just see what bit of the theme is bugging you most for not quite being right, go to the css and fix that, rinse and repeat
