honestly, with @brainblasted talking to the admins and the admins making it clear their stance is pro-bigotry in the "well mneh mneh we just luv freeze peach too much so we can't do anything to stooop that" way, i'd urge everyone to be really vocal that / are now selling dangerous products

the some products might even be good! but paying for the security of a gated community means nothing when the guard knows your roommate's a serial killer, and does nothing about it.

@wigglytuffitout @brainblasted I am extremely disconcerted by the evidence that Purism has no idea how the fediverse works and does not care.

@InspectorCaracal @wigglytuffitout @brainblasted i mean in a sense its a return to form back to the old OStatus GNU Social "free speech". There is no "way" the fediverse works besides the one we currently operate under and it can very quickly shift in any which direction.

@oct2pus @wigglytuffitout @brainblasted I would agree except they're literally using a rebranded Mastodon server, so it's less about an ephemeral idea about the fediverse and more not understanding the software they are using.

@InspectorCaracal @wigglytuffitout @brainblasted I don't think the software matters here in particular its the attitude and general community that surrounds that software. I really believe federation a poor choice for their "Free Speech Personal Responsibility Decentralized Social Network" because federation is really, really bad at that.

@oct2pus @wigglytuffitout @brainblasted You know we're in agreement, right? XD I'm just primarily indignant at this particular trend of them adopting software without knowing anything about it, as a related but separate issue.
