river city girls is just perfect example of like.

game: hey we're a classic series full of fun action! paramount in the genre!

me: i sleep

game: and in this version you can play as a girl!

me: REAL SHIT?????

Follow

another example of this is i listened to a history of Metal Slug on youtube because honestly i have seen those games around but didn't know much about them so it's interesting

then i learned in the later games you can choose to play as A GIRL

and i'm like "oh. suddenly i'm actually interested in playing this!"

it's not that i'm intentionally being a misandrist in video games, it's just that a game has to bring so so so so so much more to the table to get me interested if i can't play as a girl lol

@wigglytuffitout /pizza is dead and they're never gonna bring it back. We've gotta move on.

@wigglytuffitout tbh even guy gamers get excited about being able to play as A Girl, unless they're complete shitheads, because they're like "AT LAST, SOMETHING DIFFERENT" combined with a dose of "yesss cute girl"

@InspectorCaracal i forget who did it and alas am not having much success googling it, but somewhere out there is a brilliant parody of "i am the very model of a modern major-general" but about video game protaganists aka grizzled white dude with brown hair who is probably an alcoholic and also voiced by nolan north

it's just a point of utter ubiquitousness at this point lol
