@maple honestly they're really rad and i hope that when i'm a bit more well (hunting down Whatever Is Wrong In My Shoulder), i'd love to actually.... do my science writing planned career and spread the good word about these things, LOL

it's not a 100% shot, it depends heavily on stuff like how the implant leads scar in on healing etc etc., but it's a really cool option that i hope catches on since it's a treatment for neuropathic pain (and those are far and few between).

@maple i honestly am SO glad to have it, it was a long shot that my pain doc had to fight with my insurance to cover, but it does an amazing job of just... covering up one particular damaged nerve's screaming. so instead of pain, there's 80-95% coverage of just kinda... gentle buzzy feeling.

getting an MRI done with one was a little terrifying at the outset but thankfully, it's totally fine lol, the loss of pain relief is the biggest/only problem there.

*i really am indeed a cyborg because of the spinal cord stimulator. it means that every so often i need to charge the battery pack in my butt, lol. no, there's no port or anything, i just have to sit with a kinda hockey puck thing to the small of my back which is the other half of an electromagnetic motor that then spins up underneath my skin and charges the battery.

right, time to charge my cyborg implant* and actually play video games instead of just being a slow-moving tumbleweed of anxiety

@Jacki@radical.town all of the above. full vaporwave bedroom!

thank goodness. even though my mom will have to stay another night just in case, procedure over, it went really well.

i'm going to collapse into a relieved blob for a second and try to do something about this headache

@Azure this is one of my favourite memorial statues in the world! (and i am quite pleased to see it drift across in mention on the fediverse timeline)

(however, i'm someone who read too much redwall when in middle school and then became a bio major who is adamantly pro-medical-animal-testing, so, i might be an outlier about how i get a bit misty-eyed about such things)

@Dayglochainsaw amazon.com/gp/product/B07D553X PROPER BIG PILE OF SHIBA STICKERS! also cat version too! they're like... paper-ey and not slick/glossy like normal stickers, but this means they look really cute in journals tbh. a little expensive, but prime eligible and also you get 120 good-sized individual stickers so.

also, amazon.com/gp/product/B07JM3HX vaporwave stickers because why not.

people who can do winged eyeliner are basically witches who know deep magic.

people who can do winged eyeliner right THE FIRST TIME are probably some sort of higher celestial beings, and i fear and admire them in equal measure.

@dragonmagic i can use it as an excuse to play around with makeup in any case :v

i might get REALLY BOLD and actually ATTEMPT WINGED EYELINER

therapy

@Dayglochainsaw obviously you should buy a big pack of cute stickers and tell your therapist it's a gift, for them to give out to all patients (including you of course ;) )

(i'm only halfway joking honestly)

(also i've got links in here somewhere about the very cute set of shiba inu stickers i got off amazon for a good price as well)

ugh. odds are increasingly good my mom won't be home from the hospital for new years.

i wonder if i should finally take a shower and do my hair and makeup anyway. is it too vain to do such just for new years selfies when you aren't going anywhere, lol?

therapy

@Dayglochainsaw it's kind of intimidating to march in there like it's a fucken business meeting, but honestly, it's well worth it - or at least i always found it that way because i'm much more articulate with writing than i am with talking, lol

there are a lot of cute journaling ideas and stuff out there as well! may as well soften the blow with some . either that or i'm just way too easily bribed by stickers still, tbh.

therapy

@Dayglochainsaw idk if you're comfortable with it, but i know that when i had Serious Shit I Must Remember To Talk About with my therapist, it really helped me to write it down - and sometimes to even bring two copies and hand one to my therapist for that additional accountability

it definitely makes it more of a Big Thing, but it does mean Big Things Get Done?

given the new year and all, i should probably see about eating some collard greens

but i only like about three forkfuls per year of collards, then i'm done.

........this is why i'm poor, isn't it

catcalling???

@aflightybroad i think you may have been catcalled by a goose that has been turned into a human by a witch, probably as part of some punishment

q-word discourse, in which a wigglytuff outlines what she is going to do for now and asks for patience

@maple honestly what really made it click for me was a friend explaining that sometimes, 'queer' is a very useful word in 'i want to indicate i am non-cishet in some fashion, but i do not know how safe i am currently expressing some aspects of that'. which i can totally understand! and i am grateful to them for explaining that aspect to me tbh.

a note on my tagging for CWs:

i may be a little slow to tag for CWs, particularly as i look for ones that may be new to me but common on mastodon.

i promise this is not the token cishet being ornery or stubborn; it's me having a moment. the various medicines i take for my illnesses (including pain meds, etc) mean sometimes i don't brain so good.

i promise it's not malice, and i will always be happy to put cw on things if asked, feel FREE to do so and TELL ME if i've forgotten!

q-word discourse, in which a wigglytuff outlines what she is going to do for now and asks for patience

so, i will say that in tumblr i have gotten pretty used to 'queer' as umbrella term of choice. the social circle i was in was emphatically pro-queer, and as token cishet, i tried to use the language they thought most appropriate (and that i was used to seeing academically).

however! if you are following me and need/want me to cw it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW and i will do my best to cw it for you!

the q-word? qu**r

@zoey as token cishet, i'm so out of my lane i may as well be a wrong-way driver, but i generally abide by the rule of "always cw if the word is being used specifically as an insult, not as a reclaimed umbrella term. in the second case, to thine own conscience be true and/or see if anyone says 'i would appreciate a cw warning for that', or if you are in company of people who appreciate it being emphatically NOT cw'd.
