@zoey and, again, probably boring you to tears telling you shit you already know, but the moomins comics look endlessly charming.

and it's a bit late in period but probably the one rec you might not have already devoured, lmao - walt kelly's pogo is really lovely and lush in its art and will make you want to go wandering in the okefenokee (in the best of ways).

@zoey if you know tintin you probably also know asterix by now - but i have an enormous fondness for both series. asterix does spectacularly well in translation - a lot of my childhood was my dad reading asterix comics to me translating french, etc. on the fly and explaining the puns (as they tweak the jokes per language quite elegantly to make sure they all land). there's little nemo in slumberland if you're looking for hardcore classics as well!

@zoey i ain't actually that knowledgeable, and i'm probably telling you stuff you already know, but i remember around that time period (along with tintin) in my graphics novels course back in college, we did stop and read Krazy Kat - you might consider stopping by and giving him a go if you haven't yet comicstriplibrary.org/browse/r but i'm sure you're ahead of me there! the site also has some other comic strips - may as well flip thru it?

in which a wigglytuff whines about health stuff

i hate this cold. at the moment i hate it because there's so much snot going down the back of my throat that my stomach is very upset and i am both really hungry but don't have the appetite to eat anything GRUMP GRUMP GRUMP

@gazelle cheerfully ask them about when they're going to switch the ornaments over for valentine's day on their 'holiday tree'

this is the most cutting critique of their holiday laziness one can say in WASPlish

border print of st basil's cathedral style onion domes, with lots of embroidered ribbon (4) chunkily making up the sarafan-inspired dress and closing up each tier of the sleeves (2) and decorating the back of the plain ankle boots (3); sleeves and bottom finished with eyelet lace (6), with a matryoshka doll purse (5) and no headbow but rather bangs styled into kiss-curls and a bandana-like headpiece that would make babushka proud with hair long and loose (1).

a russian-inspired coordinate! someone on the discord i'm in talked about how slavic folk dance costumes may have influenced the whole lolita silhouette and away i went lol

i'm a squid now and i'm a kid now and i'm - ACTUALLY I'M AN ADULT AND A CUTTLEFISH? anyway have a -sona...? -sona? how do we even

As much as I like the fresno nightcrawlers for being cryptids best described as 'mysterious pants', tsuchinokos are good too because they're literally just fat snakes that can double jump.

For every molecule of pasta, there is a corresponding molecule of antipasto

i pulled up mspaint and got out the graphics tablet to show somebody what i meant idea-wise (as they work on a lolita print with mermaids in cameos), because i kept awkwardly gesturing at the screen, and that absolutely does not help anyone to communicate a concept online in text-only communication! so please have this extremely well drawn mermaid.

anyway, now that the 💿 🐴 is over with, i really need to watch Rose of Versailles sometime

because the soundtrack is g r e a t
