Video games and mental health

@staticsafe@mastodon.zombocloud.com honestly i completely understand this.

it's especially squidgey when a game can be both at once! i think mmorpgs are a big thing here for me. it's nice to kick back and chill with friends, but there's also that push to get on that grind yada yada...

and this is why i have little patience sometimes for survival games as a genre. if it feels like the game is constantly nagging me, it can completely ruin the otherwise chill time (NO MAN'S SKY.)

"hey harp the wigglytuff, why aren't you following me?!"

honestly just poke me and i most likely will! i just find that i spend most of my time hanging out in the federated timeline instead of the home timeline, so i haven't really gotten into the habit of following people that much.

it ain't me being a brat or vagueing you, it's just doofy brain at work. feel free to poke me if you'd like a follow back!

(you know i should actually watch cowboy bebop sometime instead of just jamming to the soundtrack but in my defense, the seatbelts are great so)

i'm also incredibly picky about my custom ringtones/custom alarm sounds after accidentally ruining a couple of songs for myself

i still have to sort of brace for the jolt of adrenaline every time i listen to youtube.com/watch?v=pTnS4pzlTq because it was my ringtone in college for the longest time

i still need to figure out how to do custom ringtones on my phone and make its ringtone be the fantasy costco theme because i've just sort of accepted that i'm at that level of basic bitch in my life

Princess Leia Organa: No! Alderaan is peaceful! We have no weapons, you can't possibly...

Grand Moth Tarkin: *flutters*

Princess Leia Organa: ...Dantooine. They're on Dantooine.

Grand Moth Tarkin: *flutters around the Death Star lights*

Princess Leia Organa: WHAT?

Grand Moth Tarkin: *lands on the superlaser's firing handle*

me tonight -

tiny brain: i should keep forgetting to write captions for my pictures

medium brain: i should remember to write captions for my pictures so i can make whatever i post more accessible

galaxy brain: i should remember to write captions for my pictures because that's valuable real estate for secret stupid jokes that i'm just ignoring

anyway i hope as nintendo shuts down things like the store for wiis, we all remember it fondly by making more remixes of the songs, or at least jamming the fuck out to this one on the regular youtube.com/watch?v=hBzfpsEyqe

sometimes self-care is muting people who post in troll quirks

not because they are bad people or i don't want to see what they are talking about, mind you, but just because of the simple reason that the troll quirks hurt my head to read, on account of having a brain made of fluff and failure.

wait. hold on. this is mastodon. let me restart. sometimes praxis is

just... what a wonderful ending and moral that the poem builds to:

Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

it's a shame i only came to know her work after she died, but this is very much worth your time - youtube.com/watch?v=lv_4xmh_Wt here is Mary Oliver reading her poem Wild Geese

@Chel it's the natural evolution from the medieval trencher and bread bowl

soon all of our dishes and utensils will be carbs and i for one look forward to the day this happens

@Chel science has given us the answer to this question

IF you accept that the answer can be "the second part of your meal" and/or "eating is a form of cleaning maybe"
