Gender (+); makeup (~)

@Lexi@octodon.social just cruising on by here a second, feel free to tell my cishet ass to gtfo -

maybe it's an opportunity to play with some "no-makeup makeup" :> i know nyx has actually put out some cool stuff along those lines, and a lot of asian beauty follows that ethos (tinted moisturizer and bb creams over foundations, etc).

you could have some fun experimenting with that "you, but better" makeup kinda look and see if the part of brain that wants to yell likes it better?

if anyone needs me, i gotta go have Southern Girl Who Read Too Much Miss Manners In Middle School the vapors,

because a friend just told me that she just saw, at her aunt's funeral, a pageant queen arrive wearing her crown and sash. for the whole thing. to the funeral. the whole fucking funeral. crown. sash. at. at a funeral. a Funeral. A FUNERAL

Poor freedom of speech. Its meaning has taken such a drubbing in the last few years.

I mean, originally, it was just "the government can't tell you what you can and can't say".

Then someone decided it meant "what you say should never have any consequences".

Then someone decided that it meant "nobody can deny you a soapbox".

Then someone decided that it meant "nobody can refuse to listen to you."

Now apparently it means "every program that could possibly access my soapbox MUST do so."

"harp, did you just delete and redraft that just to shove your nonsense in a tag?"

.... yea

yes, i am, truly, back on my bullshit, having written now two more The Secret World/Secret World Legends style lore entries for characters - docs.google.com/document/d/1SA

also shoutout to google's spellcheck helping me correct miqo'te and ala mhigo, good on you for that though i'm slightly confused how y'all got that in the dictionary

also, as i am writing yet more "profiles for my ffxiv characters written as if they are lore entries from the secret world", i think this officially qualifies as being Back On My Bullshit

me, having no inclination or feelings towards jacklyn hill whatsoever at the beginning of all this, nor any desire to buy any of her products, not having watched any of her videos, yet, nonetheless, enjoying the videos coming out detailing the pandora's box of horrors her lipsticks apparently are:

:blobpopcorn:

crucial features i would like in botw2:

-you can just go have a chat with the dragons instead of shooting at them and it's a nice lovely time

-PET DOG BUTTON

@monorail given that his motivation was to wipe so he could go get some chicken, i will gleefully accept this high praise

"consequences for political action is definitely fake. i've never had a consequence in my life, after all!" - basically every cishet middle-upper-class white dude who seems to be a programmer of some stripe on mastodon, honestly

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online once you get out of your bubble - "every person is just like me, very safe from nazis, able to leave politics and harassment at the door, and can just do technical stuff on a whim, therefore, it's better to not do anything at all" - i think you will find that reality is very, very different than you think it is right now.

if you ever get out, of course.

if.

i think at this point i know enough of who you are that any further conversations would be useless, so time for a mute. 👋

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online right now all you are defending is "my freedom and the freedom of neo-nazis is the most important. we can't dare inconvenience them, not even a bit, as it would be useless, you see. and since political questions are very tiring, we shouldn't do anything here at all."

that's certainly a position you can take.

but you will be pitching for a side that is not the morally right or just one.

own what you defend, and then see why the pushback is so strong on this one.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online and yet, you are arguing that the value of Nazi users is more important than the safety of those neo-Nazis want to kill.

what about their freedom? if you are so interested in preserving as such - what about their freedom to live without being harmed by hatespeech? or to just live at all?

however, you've steadfastly decided to not consider that - or that the consequences of fostering and supporting such communities include people getting killed.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online there is a joke here, from ww2, that is applicable.

what do you call a Nazi sitting at a table with 9 friends?

10 Nazis.

i would suggest that you pump the breaks and get down from your ivory tower on this one. please actually sit down and listen to people about how these groups are harming their communities. please extend compassion to them and try to understand their point of view. sit down and think about how far your ideals go in the face of bloodshed.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online why can't deplatforming them be part of the action?

open software is supposed to be better than commercial ethics, and yet, we see the same logic being used here. "we can't do that. we might lose some users."

if user count is more important than not contributing to these situations, that's something that you have to decide you're defending. and you have to know that you *are* defending Nazis. and you have to acknowledge that people are mad for good reasons.

@DashEquals@linuxrocks.online ah, let me guess. "not everyone on gab is a nazi. i have an account there and it's full of nice people! we're just interested in free speech! that's where i learned about topics like do you know all the refugees are part of organized white genocide by neomarxists? i've read the memes, they're very interesting!"

honestly, even if that's untrue, you are still arguing for a very similar effect to the rest of us. you have chosen a side through political action.
