this may be potentially controversial given how evil the disney corp is

however

as a star wars fan i keep getting a very specific type of angry at the new star wars theme part of disney world

not because i hate it

but rather the opposite

i fucking need this shit and i am so furious, how could they do this to me. how could they inflict this on me, a poor disabled bitch. let me live disney. LET ME LIVE. FUCK. but first pass the orb cola and lightsaber churros fuuuuuuuuuuck

is it bad that my first glimpse at seeing the "garlic flavor coca-cola" photoshop is that i went

"actually i bet that would work really well to baste a ham with"

notre dame, current events

@Anarkat fortunately i just read about the work of Prof. Andrew Tallon, so if it is a complete rebuild, there is a lot of very good data to go off - news.nationalgeographic.com/20

and fortunately i suppose the stained glass, being the main draw, will be thoroughly documented with pictures etc. given the number of coffee table books on that subject

notre dame, current events

that is unexpectedly hitting me hard

i really hope the stained glass is going to be ok, or at least recoverable

Notre Dame, measured positive

Via grouchybagels on Twitter:

"I know this doesn't help, but we have exquisite 3D laser maps of every detail of Notre Dame, thanks to the incredible work of Vassar
art historian Andrew Tallon. Prof Tallon passed away last November, but his work will be absolutely crucial."

Guys: “Well you know, there were many people working on those algorithms, it’s not only Katie Bouman work but rather a team effort.”

Also guys: “Elon Musk is sending rockets on Mars, he makes electric cars, he invented tunnels, he’s such a genius, I love him.”

Another genderless insult you can use in a rap battle

stankwaffle

@BearishMushroom Paw And Order immediately came to mind

Like... Y'know, Nya is also a strong candidate

@AudreyJune (either way soooooooo much nicer than electrolysis where you have to let it grow out a bit so the tweezers can grip it and just sit there feeling awful and skuzzy)

@AudreyJune OH I ACTUALLY REMEMBERED SOMETHING USEFUL I FORGOT

the sensation really gets turned way way down if you do it IMMEDIATELY after shaving. well ok, like same day. but it definitely has more of a pop if i leave it until the next day because then the hairs are longer, so it's more of the bit getting fried, and all that.

iirc it actually also works better with newly-shaved because it means more nuking in the follicle base as well?

"harp", some of you may be thinking, reading that last post, "what the fuck"

listen

listen!

let those who have not taken off a bra at the end of the day wherein they ate candy, and gone "oh hey an m&m got in there! ...it's still good, mm a snack" throw the first stone!

@beebs ah yes, you're mastering a key technique: the Snack For Later

...you do have to move fast when non-shelled candy goes in there though, but m&ms end up ok for longer than you'd think

@AudreyJune (it doesn't feel hot as much as it... pinches? snaps?? it's rather unique. honestly i can deal with it much better because it's just over very quickly and doesn't linger. i tried electrolysis in middle school and that was a bit of a fucking ordeal for sure, especially going literal hair by fucking hair... =_= )

@AudreyJune ah, so it's a bit like the danger of having too much of a tan.

honestly i think the main difference may be that the med spas are the people who get to be sued there, instead of them, LMAO. if you look at something where there's various intensity levels, i think the solution - y'know, what they'd do at a med spa - is probably bump down the power. so start slow and work up.

but that's also good advice regardless, i know it took me a moment to get used to the sensation of it.

as we begin to approach pesach, i would like to volunteer my services as goybage disposal if there's any leftover charoset that needs getting rid of

@monorail i know i've made this joke a thousand times already but i always get a bit giggly since my dog is named holly

she would like to recommend two points for essential holly experience:

1. bark at squirrel

b) be called 'hollyollyoxenfree' if you're feelin' silly

also the buttons are a bit bigger which is very nice

see pic for size comparison

mostly just relieved i can actually play the games i want to in this flare instead of just pining for things i can't actually play because i only have one joy-con and getting super super smad about it.

also there's going to be two proper controllers now so theoretically i could invite a guest over to play! phwoaar

Show thread

ok so i broke down and got a pro controller for my switch because of no guarantee that my joycon would be home from the wars in time for the upcoming splatfest

and can i just say

i actually really like this

very nice good purchase. i really like that the secondary pad is a proper + shape. the four round buttons was a bit confusing, here i can much more easily tell what they are in relation to each other, so i don't BOOYEAH when i meant to OUCH and seem delighted by being killed in spla2n...

We Are All This Hognose Snake

something something let's get that bread joke?
