(what actually happened is the place i'm going to for physical therapy this time is the place where all the student athletes go, so there is Extreme Money in play. they don't have just icepacks out of a freezer. oh no. they have this machine that circulates water through an appropriately-sized hooked-up pouch shaped like whatever it needs to be for your shoulder or what have you, all at a consistent temperature. like a sous vide machine. except in my case cold)
so after physical therapy today, i now know what a water-cooled computer feels like
cue @maple rolling by my window, yelling SOME OF US ALREADY KNEW. SOME OF US ARE WAY AHEAD OF YOU ON THE WHOLE 'WATER-COOLED COMPUTER' FRONT before downing an entire bottle of fiji water while maintaining eye contact to establish dominance

on the plus side i actually got a shower for the first time post-surgery and oh my god i feel so much better
even if i got out of there all "oh i feel so nice" only for my knees to start yelling OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU at me
my fellow #spoonie folks, we need a word - probably stolen from german bc they build their language out of lego - for "i am not currently in pain but i AM shaking like a leaf so the pain train has definitely left the station, and has just not arrived yet, so i need to sit my ass down"

* Growing almonds for almond milk damages ecosystems and uses a *lot* of water. 80% of the world's almonds come from California, where severe droughts can be a problem
* Soy farming drives deforestation in South America. Tofu can have twice the carbon footprint of chicken
* Fish populations are dynamic. Sustainable fishing leaves land open for reforestation
* Bioplastics are not necessarily better than recyclable plastics like PET
* Industrial cooking is more efficient than home cooking. Tinned tomatoes, chick peas, etc can be a good option
* Cling film is plastic, and plastic is not good. But if you use it carefully, you can prevent food waste, which is worse. Beeswax wrapping is ideal
* Leather can last over a decade, and is biodegradable. Fake leather is made from short lived plastic
* Cotton production is energy intensive. A cotton bag needs to be used 149 times to be more carbon efficient than plastic. Get a good one. Use it often
