(what actually happened is the place i'm going to for physical therapy this time is the place where all the student athletes go, so there is Extreme Money in play. they don't have just icepacks out of a freezer. oh no. they have this machine that circulates water through an appropriately-sized hooked-up pouch shaped like whatever it needs to be for your shoulder or what have you, all at a consistent temperature. like a sous vide machine. except in my case cold)

so after physical therapy today, i now know what a water-cooled computer feels like

cue @maple rolling by my window, yelling SOME OF US ALREADY KNEW. SOME OF US ARE WAY AHEAD OF YOU ON THE WHOLE 'WATER-COOLED COMPUTER' FRONT before downing an entire bottle of fiji water while maintaining eye contact to establish dominance

@Sapphicgiraffic@snouts.online also wow diagnosed twice LEAVE SOME DIAGNOSIS FOR THE REST OF US, MISSY >:(

/the above is a joke dont worry

the spoonie tag, as far as i can see, is 40-60% just me kvetching.

as it should be

kickstarter for the users of tumblr to buy tumblr for three scratch-off lotto tickets and some pocket lint

on the plus side i actually got a shower for the first time post-surgery and oh my god i feel so much better

even if i got out of there all "oh i feel so nice" only for my knees to start yelling OMAE WA MOU SHINDEIRU at me

my fellow folks, we need a word - probably stolen from german bc they build their language out of lego - for "i am not currently in pain but i AM shaking like a leaf so the pain train has definitely left the station, and has just not arrived yet, so i need to sit my ass down"

@noelle wow it's almost like not listening to users about how they use the site, not addressing longstanding harm being done to them, and deciding dodgy algorithms can do all your thinking for you, means that a social media platform drastically loses value or something

well done, yahoo!

2013: Yahoo buys Tumblr for $1.1 billion, which is to say, $1100 million.

2019: Automattic buys Tumblr for less than $3 million.

some surprising sustainability

Also:

* Growing almonds for almond milk damages ecosystems and uses a *lot* of water. 80% of the world's almonds come from California, where severe droughts can be a problem

* Soy farming drives deforestation in South America. Tofu can have twice the carbon footprint of chicken

* Fish populations are dynamic. Sustainable fishing leaves land open for reforestation

* Bioplastics are not necessarily better than recyclable plastics like PET

* Industrial cooking is more efficient than home cooking. Tinned tomatoes, chick peas, etc can be a good option

* Cling film is plastic, and plastic is not good. But if you use it carefully, you can prevent food waste, which is worse. Beeswax wrapping is ideal

* Leather can last over a decade, and is biodegradable. Fake leather is made from short lived plastic

* Cotton production is energy intensive. A cotton bag needs to be used 149 times to be more carbon efficient than plastic. Get a good one. Use it often

so what y'all think of my new coord

(they say it's part of their summer yukata collection but we all know... with that cut... and that amount of lace.... it's some wa lolita)

Culture is weird. Like, you put a deerstalker hat on an animal, and now the animal is a detective.

@eightbitsamurai@elekk.xyz change your icon to a slideshow of mints, with like powerpoint slide transition effects

i mean that's something you can squish into a gif.... probably...

my timeline keeps loading to awhile back and someone warning about how "opening the kimono" is not a good term to use in business and is creepy sexist/racist more often than not

which is a good point but i keep thinking of mcelroy brothers content where they stopped in the middle of something else (either playing dnd or answering a question, can't remember) just to riff on how creepy "ALLOW ME TO PART THE KIMONO THERE FOR YOU" can be and i keep giggling
