People are calling today the 30th birthday of the web; more accurately itโs the 30th birthday of CERN releasing the source code. I vividly remember websites being a curiosity among FTP servers, Usenet newsgroups, and gopher holes.
Hereโs to this marvelous technology, Earthโs biggest Choose Your Own Adventure book, one of the most backwardly compatible systems ever built. Modern browsers may be elaborate interpreter-compilers but they still render the first site: http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

Need something to move this timeline forward a bit. Here's a breakfast cereal crossover that I do not understand. Who/what is Ambush. The cereal doesn't seem to look or be flavored any different from normal. Is it going to drop a dubstep beat when I pop the box open.

Here I put together over 90 "Fight" logos from various fighting games. It's worth noting only games with "Fight" are here as many fighting games use another phrase (Go! being the second most common).

Listen. I am an internet ancient. I stood amidst LiveJournal as it crumbled while I watched the fall of Flickr. I was there both times Tumblr burned down, toasting marshmallows over its smouldering ruin, laughing at the folly of Verizon. The death of Twitter was foretold by the dark prophecies of the forgotten internets. I am there to witness its passing as the old internet is dying and the new internet struggles to be born. Now is the time of monsters.
@jplebreton and i switched to DDG entirely because of how bad Google was sucking at it - i'm a bit miffed at the thought of potentially switching again, but what alternative exists anymore? can't just go back to altavista circa 1999...
