i wonder, how many CEOs, presidents, and big cheeses of the business world, actually "earned" their position by climbing to the top, versus how many just happened to start there from the beginning? was "climbing the corporate ladder" a myth from the very start?

In Yoshi's Island, if the "Kamek saying 'OH, MY!!!'" object is inserted anywhere in a level that is not a boss battle, Baby Mario will explode. This will count as completing the level.

"Riding your trike can be a great way to get in shape and lose weight!*"

i also wish some asshole hadn't stolen my e-trike SEVEN FUCKING MONTHS AGO

i wish e-trikes didn't cost 5,000 goddamn dollars

i'd even accept a regular trike if anybody made the damn things but they're uncommon enough in the US that they still cost like $2,500 and come with tight weight restrictions

last boost: GOOD, i wish America could make headway towards discouraging cars and favoring cyclists and/or public transport where possible

@ben Funny, I took the picture on Thursday, literally the day before you πŸ˜€β€‹

But yeah, had a much more pleasant experience riding Amtrak Cascades to Seattle and back than I've ever had on a plane. Didn't even mind that it was slightly slower; the amount of security-theater that my grandma and I _didn't_ have to go through, the Red Cap man helping us with luggage and getting her up the steps, and not having to be buckled into our seats for "take-off" gave us a better experience than any airliner.

@ben Yes it is - and like an hour before noon, at that, with nearly nobody around. More employees than riders. :blobfrown:

I’m looking for a software engineer to join my team at the Internet Archive. We work mostly Pacific hours but are fully and forever remote (we do have a lovely SF HQ if you're in the neighborhood). Our department uses Python, Django, Temporal.io, Postgres, and some in-house database technologies to build web archiving and other digital preservation services for over 1000 partner cultural heritage and memory institutions.

@gifsbot At first I'd assume this got corrupted in transit, back in 1994, but the filename indicates this is deliberate. I wonder how they accomplished this effect. What graphics formats of the time stored the color channels separately so they could diverge like this when the data is thrashed enough...?

Back in the day I used to use this Winamp plugin to simulate vinyl noise: winampheritage.com/plugin/izot - I kind of wish there was an equivalent for foobar2000. (I know there used to be a foobar plugin that enabled the use of Winamp plugins but I'm not sure if that supported DSPs, and I think it stopped working several foobar versions ago.)

@mcc I've wanted something like the prototype steam controller that used a trackball for the longest time. I want more games that use trackballs and spinners. There's almost no USB support for them, and it's tragic.

I ported a USB DisplayLink driver to @polpo's PicoGUS card so I could use it to watch MS-DOS games make changes to the VGA palette in realtime. Specifically, I ported "libdlo" to use the TinyUSB stack in host mode, then spent way too much time optimizing it until it was sufficiently fast.
