not sure how well known this already was, but i just stumbled upon an archive of super high-res 35mm photos of Newton and NeXT photos from the 90s, by photographer doug menuez. the vast majority are candid b+w snapshots of the newton and next teams as they grind through workdays and product launches

"In the film The Matrix, Switch was originally meant to change genders upon entering the Matrix, which coined their name "Switch". Now, 2026 is still not the Year of Linux on Desktop. Not by any means. But it's the year of being actually okay to say to Very Not Computer family and friends that you can get their old computer working decently again. It lets you post to facebook. It lets you do a spreadsheet and do a typing a document. Lets you use your browser-based cloud services. And that's generally all that Very Not Computer folk seem to need.

PSA: If you block the `claude` user on GitHub, you'll get a warning every time you view a repo with that user in its commit history.

Now, the moment you look at a repo, you can immediately adjust your expectations.

My unpopular opinion is that you should never see a progress bar that says 100%. If it's at 100% then by definition you're done and should not be looking at a progress bar any more
