past a certain point reading dwarf fortress bug reports, the line begins to blur as to what's a legit bug and what's just dwarf culture.

I know of exactly one person anywhere in the internet that has me blocked. Regardless of the true reason behind it, I hope they're doing well and that maybe life has quit dealing them such a shit hand.
If somebody's gonna block me, they absolutely should block me. I'm not gonna argue against it. I probably did something they didn't like, and it's better for things as a whole if they don't have to perceive me.
Would probably be much better if they did it of their own volition, though. Make your own choices. Have your own reasons. Don't feel like you gotta justify it to anybody. You're the one in control of your experience - weasel or no weasel.
making your own echo chambers is ok sometimes
of course, you should pop the filter bubble every now and then. poke your head out of the hole to see if you can see your own shadow. but you shouldn't subject yourself to a 24/7 firehose of everything.
New blog post! I wrote about the weird history of Photo CD games - a format for family photos and photographers' portfolios that was *not* intended for complex games, but people went for it anyway. I love how people will find a way to make games no matter what. https://cdrom.ca/games/2023/01/02/photocd.html
This year I resolve to... stay the course. I'm not doing badly where I'm at. I have negative feelings towards my job, but I would honestly have negative feelings towards any job. I live in an economy where there's no such thing as a seasonal break, and burnout is rampant.
Perhaps things can change, but I am only one person, and it will take hundreds of thousands.
New year, new weasel! Better graphics! Over the top orchestral score! New sidekicks and abilities!
Or perhaps we'll think better of that and continue on the same path my faithful audiences have come to expect from the weasel franchise. Watch This Space (and more than likely nothing of note will happen)!
I made a Chrome extension that adds a "Copy Alt Text" option to the right-click menu on images. A few kind folks have offered localizations, and now it's time to cut a release.
Before I do, I'd love to add other languages. I have Czech and Japanese, can you help with others?
Open a PR to https://github.com/alt-text-org/alt-text-copy or translate:
- "Alt Text Copy"
- "Copy Image Alt Text By Right Clicking"
- "Copy Alt Text"

There's no feeling quite like booting up a game, watching all of the opening cutscenes, and still having absolutely no idea how it is going to play.
The 3DO is the perfect system to explore that feeling.
but I have always said, I got into the 3DO's library not because the games are good/great/the best - I got into it because the library is _batshit insane_ and made by all kinds of multimedia startups that otherwise would never have made games to begin with.
it is quite possibly the weirdest and most diverse software library of any console platform (except maybe the CD-i) with everything from Soviet Bloc game shows to first-person pinball, and I love the hell out of it.
