will update this eventually with a trivial pursuit-like board as well but right now you can play quick trivia with the category die

What happened to #holograms? The 3D photos in monochrome laser colours?

They were EVERYWHERE in the 80s/90s and now it seems impossible to find them except on a credit card sticker.

Searching for "hologram" online just shows sculptures or spinning things or shiny paper or projections onto a bit of cloth. None of them are actual 3D photos.

I know, many people prefer those "ready to play" releases, where the retro game is already perfectly set up and configured. I guess it's convenient, but, personally, I really love to collect my games as original floppy disks.

There's simply nothing more precious than installing a beloved game from its original disks and looking at those oldschool setup programs! It sure beats unpacking some lousy, self-made archives containing pre-cracked files!

Today is a huge day for Apple II software preservation. With the help of Antoine Vignau and @txgx42, we have managed to recover, make playable, and archive renowned game designer Dani Bunten's first game, Wheeler Dealers. Released in 1978/79 and published by Speakeasy Software, a small Canadian developer, Wheeler Dealers is a multi-player stock market simulation that only sold ~50 copies. It is the first (known) computer game to have been sold in a box. The game was considered lost until now.

Launched a new Death Generator, based on a request by Kitsune86. They wanted a Nokia 3310 generator, but the best I could do was a Nokia 3410... which was close enough for jazz.

If you find yourself in the place I did (which, like, the longer you stay here the higher that probability gets), and you DIDN'T back up that .csv, you're gonna at some point vent about this Situation to an actual real-life friend, in person, using your meat mouth, and they're gonna make this face ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and they'll be RIGHT to do so and you'll know it.

Seriously I see so many "Hey all the newbies, remember to CW eye contact and food and get off .social ASAP," but I don't see "Back your followers the hell up because beefs between admins you don't even know will silently and irrevocably sever your relationships" posted, like, Anywhere. TBH if it were up to me that'd be the first damn thing the website tells you.

Also while I'm PSAing maybe don't make threads that get so long they've gotta span THREE DANG SERVERS but I know you all are too sensible to do that so that's more of a Note To Self thing
