They responded near instantly to my contact, asked questions that seemed AI-like or heavily scripted, asked me if i was familiar with a list of very specific hardware... then asked me if I could buy it myself, and they'd send a check to cover it.
I might be desperate for work now but that's no reason for me (or anybody I know) not to be Extra Careful about job prospects that seem too good to be true!
See this thread for more, as this person got hit the same way as me:

Some images from the animated About dialog for the Mac version of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, running in an experimental version of @scummvm. It's not pixel perfect (I guess ScummVM's Mac font renderer doesn't quite emulate QuickDraw rendering, and the rounded corners are also a bit off), but it should be enough to fool the casual observer.
I think we can all agree that this has been time well spent.
one thing i miss from migrating over to tabletop playground was the trivial pursuit board so i made my own deck and put it online https://mod.io/g/tabletopplayground/m/quiz-whirl
will update this eventually with a trivial pursuit-like board as well but right now you can play quick trivia with the category die
What happened to #holograms? The 3D photos in monochrome laser colours?
They were EVERYWHERE in the 80s/90s and now it seems impossible to find them except on a credit card sticker.
Searching for "hologram" online just shows sculptures or spinning things or shiny paper or projections onto a bit of cloth. None of them are actual 3D photos.
I know, many people prefer those "ready to play" releases, where the retro game is already perfectly set up and configured. I guess it's convenient, but, personally, I really love to collect my games as original floppy disks.
There's simply nothing more precious than installing a beloved game from its original disks and looking at those oldschool setup programs! It sure beats unpacking some lousy, self-made archives containing pre-cracked files!
