Another thing I'd settle for is a dual-playlist player where you can fill out one list with "quiet" tracks and another list with "action" tracks, and just hit a hotkey (or wire up a game script mod?) to shuffle to a track in the opposite list, as the mood dictates.
I own this one, and it's pretty cool. It's one of those desktop toy things that were popular in the 90s - specifically, itโs a *creation* tool for them. Turns out the cat is also one of the demo mascots. Meet Ribbon-chan

"Maybe I _have_ hit bottom, and maybe I _do_ look like hell. Lord knows the only exercise I've had lately is tipping the bottle and flipping cards into my hat. ...I'm going to scare up a job today if it means finding somebody's lost puppy."
Tex Murphy, one of my favorite video game characters of all time. Private eye, hardboiled where it counts, total doofus at almost all other times.
Soviet linguist Yuri Knorozov was instrumental in deciphering Mayan script. His whole life he tried to be co-credited with his cat Asya but his editors always refused. In 2012, the Mexicans honored him with a monument that included his beloved cat.

It's publication day for a dream project of mine: A Tale of Two Halves: The History of Football Video Games, a 628-page book about the many many attempts to distil the beautiful game (association football) into digital interactive entertainment.
A Tale of Two Halves explores 30+ years of football games in all their formsโeven platformers like Soccer Kid and GO! GO! Beckhamโwith a season-by-season breakdown of the genre's history, lots of insight, and plenty of fun stuff like PES player shirts and pixel illustrations. And 13 in-depth interviews, too.
It comes in two flavours: a standard edition, with shoelace bookmark ribbons for a touch of whimsy, and a "Captain's Edition" that adds in a heavy-duty slipcase and swanky fabric armband emblazoned "Captain." Both are available directly from Bitmap.

30 years ago (17 Oct 1994), Wacky Wheels was released. Was a super fun game and one I had a blast playing when it came out. Fun fact - the initial release was v1.1.
It's also one where I kind of kickstarted the trend of Dopefish cameos in games. Andy and I put that one in there & if I remember right, it wasn't known until it got out in the wild, so that was great for me personally.
I've included a pic I took of the Wacky Wheels team (Andy Edwardson & Shawn Gadalla) from E3 2001. #ApogeeDays
