is there such a thing as a headphone de-amp. a patch cable i can put between output and headphones to make it more attenuated
@smellsofbikes yeah! i was thinking about those but, like you said yeah the standard fare is way too cheap
i don't want to make an ugly bulky box for this, i just want a cable i can use with a too-loud output (that is meant for headphones, on a 90s laptop, mind) so i can crank the sound card level up while minimizing the noise floor
@mavica_again what you want is called a pad, but searching for a headphone pad obviously brings up lots of the wrong thing. Maybe this? https://www.amazon.com/Headset-Buddy-Line-Level-Soundboards-iPhone-Mic-Line/dp/B00OAW85ZG/ref=pd_bxgy_sccl_1/145-8670428-4701541
@mavica_again I would love something like this for my GBA. it's waaay too loud on my headphones even with the GBA's volume knob at the lowest possible level before off.
@mavica_again I had this on some of my old wired headphones: resistive divider with a rotary dial inline with the cable. They were really cheap pots, though, and unbalanced and dumped tons of noise in.
