My "AI as a Fascist Artifact" article is obviously massively influenced by @danmcquillan's work in "Resisting AI" but my direct references to that book had to be cut from the talks the essay is based on due to time constraints and I then didn't add any back to the text.
Big oversight so I added it back into the article. Read Dan's book, it's the best writing on the link between "AI" and fascism out there.

@afreytes a pretty consistent running theme of the show and it's successors is the military obsession with control over the program generally causes problems and and hampers efforts to actually make allies and survive, generally the military characters end up deferring to and learning from the civilians on the team

@whitequark when we paid the 'nhs surcharge' for my wife's visa application, we pooled the entirety of both of our savings and came within 10's of pounds of not having enough, just barely scraped by. and while i'm glad now we have an income, how the hell are you meant to marry for love as a poor or disabled person without feeling like it's basically a paid privelige to choose someone who isn't born here
