My gamedev friend is designing a platformer where you can't lose. Hitting 0 HP just makes the protagonist really sad so they don't run and can't use movement techs needed to finish most levels until they find something to hug.
It's really intriguing. You can effectively implement checkpoints like that, or just make a really forgiving experience.

Is there a modern game, or even a semi-modern one, that has the aesthetic and energy Jazz Jackrabbit did? Freedom Planet has some of the same visual style but isn't a run n gun.
I have two modes:
1) No thoughts, head empty
2) Head empty? No, thoughts! SO MANY THOUGHTS
It’s nice when I can find a project to dive into and distract myself when I get into mode #2.
