He gave me no opportunity to get it checked out beyond identifying it, which somehow didn't bring up that it was cursed, OR its actual effect. Oh and it actually gave no armour bonus whatsoever despite being "magical", so itw as just a way to force my character to be a guy instead of a girl.

I never understood why it stung so much until now.

At the time I had no idea why I just felt "eh fuck it, why not? It's just a game". When questioned on it because my gm was a dick, and he thought it was "weird", my answer was basically "does it really matter? It's just a character, right?"

Aside from the fact he constantly made sure that any loot that was any good went to his OWN character, and we got the dregs, he also made sure that one piece of sweet loot he gave me was

Back when I was younger, first starting to play tabletop roleplaying, I was in secondary school. I got my start with, like many others, D&D. Sort of. One of the people I hung out with starting running, but used D&D basic, and modified it, rather than the actual rules.

My first character was a human warrior or paladin, I forget exactly, but I decided to play a girl.

@najimi@hellsite.site (also I didn't know about the Mega SG before! Again, frustrated that despite STILL taking preorders for Ultracore physical releases on Switch, PS4 and whatnot, I cannot find ANY information beyond "Coming in 2019!" for digital releases... it's 2020 what giiiives D: )

@najimi@hellsite.site granted you would have thought that providing you connected your wii up via a composite cable (the single yellow RCA one? I think?) AND played it on a CRT, which I used to do - but never had any VC games on it to test it - it ought to have worked with the dithering anyway... but... hm...

@najimi@hellsite.site I suspect that might be because the VC (and also the Nintendo Switch's online SNES and NES libraries) is all software only emulation. Only Analogue's Super NT and Mega SG actually emulate the hardware with their FPGA chips, leading to apparently far, FAR more accurate emulation. Complete with being able to read the genuine cartridges and everything from what I've seen.

(also now just learned about Ultracore for the Mega SG, and how is it NOT released yet wtf)

@najimi@hellsite.site aaaand there's pretty much no way to actually fake that either. :( Not without massive overheads on the processor it seems, leading to very laggy gameplay if you can even get close

@najimi@hellsite.site Honestly I sorta get the dithered transparencies. It's particularly evident in the Megadrive Sonic games. Waterfalls in them actually looked transparent because of the dithering actually exploited how godawful the resolution was on old CRT tvs.

On modern screens, the pixels are accurately represented, so... it's nigh impossible to see through waterfalls properly :/

also somehow a macro has been setup on one of the buttons, but goodness knows how to bloody change it or disable it, or even how to make it properly RECORD a macro accurately.

i feel like maybe this keyboard wasn't as great as I hoped. I mean it's functional but I have NO friggin clue what is up with the numpad 7 key. The membrane can't be removed without disassembling the entire keyboard either. which is... irritating.

....ookkkayyyy somehow the macro keys on my keyboard are set ... for... something???
