@theoutrider Hilrageous?
@Cynder This is fine, one of my meatspace side friends is super not into anime as well. They've got a few older ones they like (bubblegum crisis being one of them) but they're SUPER picky about them because a lot of them get kinda fanservicey and tropey.
To be fair I've watched a fair few anime but even then there's only a few I'd genuinely recommend ^^; (most of which come with some caveats too c_c; )
@Cynder No problem, and that's a pretty good choice. ^^ It makes for a fascinating setting and is a great set of noir styled stories.
@Cynder (I'd offer Gurren Lagann as a recommendation for a mecha show but tbf I can fully understand that not being everyone's thing because it...does have some kinda garbagey touches in its writing. It's admittedly deliberately tropey as it's both a homage to the various era of mecha anime as well as its own story about Hope vs Despair, but it is very male centric and has some issues as a result)
@Cynder I'd offer recommendations of One Punch Man and My Hero Academia for the superhero genre because both explore what it means to be a hero, if that's your thing?
OPM takes the concept of "what if the typical OP protagonist but ACTUALLY IN UNIVERSE OP" and explores what would happen with that, whereas MHA takes the route of more in depth exploration of a world where everyone starts being born with superpowers. Both have a lot of heart, though OPM takes a more comedic route usually.
@noelle mastodon, aka fantastic beasts and where i post some of the keys for a while.
furry and otherkin joke, superheroes
@Fidgetcetera
Watchdog Man from One Punch Man is canonically a furry superhero
@maple aaa *^^*
@maple I can't take credit I'm afraid. There's a fork of the Doom Source code called Chocolate Doom that uses this very same joke I just said ^^; But it is apt.
@maple It's a Chocolate flavoured version of the code.
because it's not vanilla :D
@maple okay i'm sold that's an amazing name.
Brain "hey remember the hamster dance?"
Me: "Oh yeah! How'd that go?"
Brain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1BusgAZkBo (disco club music from Streets of Rage 3)
Me: ...No that's not how-
Brain: [MUSIC INTENSIFIES]
Me: Brain sto-
Brain: [layers it over the ACTUAL hamsterdance so now the two are indistinguishable]
Me: ... i hate you so much.
@noelle well if you ever get the chance I can heartily recommend a Form 1+ or a Form 2.
@masklayer cause like then we'd all be telepathically connected here and that would be WAY COOLER
