@yaodema @zoe being amused by listening to Minecraft YouTubers talk about fictitious concepts 100% seriously is what sucked me into watching Minecraft videos even if I don't play it much on my own. Grian's great too.

First attempt at a simple forest background, taking advantage of silhouettes and taking inspiration from other backgrounds I've seen

@softgoat a Wii with Nintendont installed is probably a pretty good solution for this, assuming you mean you want to run GameCube ISOs on a device connected to a TV. A used Wii is probably about the same price as a Pi now.

Here's a mockup of what the small side game I want to make for Game Boy Color could be like, probably some simple forest-themed berry collecting thing. This one I'd probably try to fit into 32KB and I'd reuse the engine I started on for FHBG GB.

I have a print of Isabelle from Animal Crossing framed and displayed in my cubicle now. Gradually it will become the cutest cubicle ever.

@nightblade yeah for the time I've had this laptop it's been really obvious that Windows 10 was probably not designed for a 5400 rpm drive. Definitely want an SSD.

Looks like I'm invited to travel out to another company development center in June so it's new laptop buying time. My current laptop is basically on life support and has a slow hard drive, a few nonfunctional keys, somewhat flakey power jack, flakey headphone jack, and more. Any advice for picking something good?

I feel like I really, really ought to get something with an SSD this time because I think I spend a huge amount of time waiting on the disk on my current laptop.

@softgoat especially a primary focus for big fluffy squirrels or skunks

After figuring out the required logic for making the player go up and down slopes, it wasn't too much more effort to make enemies and other entities do it too. Doesn't seem very computationally expensive either, as long as the level data lookups aren't.

@Lexi you can really tell what accounts of mine I really don't care about that much because they'll be rocking ancient Nova avatars from like 2012

I love how when I reopen Uber after a bit and the car's position has changed by a lot, it will just interpolate and my driver will appear to be driving through buildings extremely quickly to get to me

@evie that's how I got my paws on Vegas and now Humble Bundle is responsible for more YouTube Poop existing in the world

nsfw art

The artist I reached out to (that I thought was gonna be a yes since they'd drawn similar stuff before) said no, so I might have to put the idea on hold.

I guess now if I do push through with it, maybe I should put less priority on just having a lot of cute art already drawn and more on willingness to draw weird transformation kink stuff. Maybe it doesn't matter if they have preexisting art that's as cute as I want as long as they can try the style upon request.

The concept of the Donkey Kong Expanded Universe amuses me. I could say Squirrel Girl is in the same universe as Donkey Kong because she's seen with Spiderman in the comics, Spiderman is seen with Ryu in Marvel Vs Capcom, and Ryu is seen with Donkey Kong in Smash.

I finally went and got a VPS at Digital Ocean because I was tired of my old one (at ChicagoVPS) just randomly halting the entire server for up to a few minutes. I've got almost everything moved over now, got my DNS and TLS stuff updated, and now the final stuff mostly involves moving over my wiki.

In addition to the higher reliability, the main important thing is I'll have a gigabyte of RAM instead of 128MB so maybe now things will actually compile!

I think the cart for Nova the Squirrel is gonna come with an instruction sheet, rather than a full manual, so I've gotta design that. Maybe have like a picture of the controller and notes about what each button does as the main focus.

I finally got slopes completely working! This actually feels really great because I'd been trying to fix this all week!
While I'm at it I also made it so that you can press the jump button a few frames before you reach the ground and it'll still work.

Aside from getting to play builds of Nova the Squirrel 2 on the real thing, a very big positive to having a SNES flashcart is I get to play *all* of the SNES puzzle games without having to borrow them from my cousin.

Aside from platformers like Kirby Super Star and Yoshi's Island (which themselves were big influences on me), I mostly know the SNES for really great puzzle games. Primarily Tetris Attack and Wario's Woods.
